The unions sided with managers

Have your say

IN RESPONSE to the letter ‘Put a stop to lies’ (Apr 1), I worked for Sheffield Council Homes for 23 years and always found the unions sided with management more than the members.

They allowed management to take money from us through pay and grading. I lost £300 and, despite being with them all those years, they decided I hadn’t reached the top of my scale so, for the last two years I wasn’t paid my correct salary. Also, I had to take four pay cuts. We’ve had our pay dates changed and gave up holidays to ‘save money and jobs.’

If you think we’re all raking it in, think again. Even now, when I’m ill and don’t work, I can’t get the benefits I thought I’d be entitled to.
