We taught the rest of the planet how to make steel, supplying them as we did with expertise and the “kit”.

They then undercut us on price and took major business away from the UK in the form of steel used in shipbuilding, construction and other key markets.

The big guns from foreign parts then come in a buy their “teacher’s” UK steel works and after a while close them down!

One of them being the aptly named “TaTa”...aka “goodbye”.

Thank goodness Sheffield still has producers of very SPECIAL steel.
