The company was bidding to overturn a Sheffield Council decision to reject plans for the branch next to the Morrisons store on Oxclose Park Road, Halfway.

The decision to uphold the council planning board’s decision was made by the Planning Inspectorate after a public inquiry.
Mosborough Coun Gail Smith, who helped collect a petition of 1,200 signatures against the store plans, welcomed the decision.
She said: “I’d like to say thank you and congratulations to all those who have helped make sure we got the right result.
“A new Tesco superstore would have brought a lot of traffic to local roads and could have damaged small businesses in the area.”
