Territorial Army holds Sheffield open day

TERRITORIAL Army units from across Sheffield are hoping to sign up new recruits at an open day this weekend.

The event takes place at the 38 Signal Regiment barracks on Hurlfield Road, Manor Top, but will also involve the city’s other units including infantry, engineers and medics.

The open day, on Saturday, between 10am and 3pm, is part of a national recruitment campaign.

Capt John Hughes, of 38 Signals, said: “There will be demonstrations by each of the units, so people can find out what opportunities are on offer plus activities including an inflatable assault course bungee run.”

An Army spokesman added: “There are more than different 200 roles available for people interested in joining the TA. Residents will be able to see and try out the kit and weaponry, and find out more from the soldiers.”
