THESE talented teenagers picked up a clutch of medals after seeing off the competition from a host of teams from around the north of England.

Sheffield United Kickz entered teams into Under-14s and Under-16s Kickz Cup tournaments in which they competed against Hull City, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United in six-a-side games.

The Under-14s team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, thrashing Hull City 8-0 in the process.

Paris Dixon was the top scorer for his team and also won the Strongest Shot of the Day competition.

United’s Under-16s team achieved the Fair Play Award after winning one match, drawing one and losing two. Their best result was 3-1 against Hull City.

The trip was organised by Kickz volunteers Liban Mohamed, Akash Munir and Mohammed Kabadeh.

The United Kickz teams, which included players from Sharrow and Broomhall projects, were accompanied by project coordinator Lloyd Samuels.

Sue Beeley, head of community at United, said: “The teams showed true competitive spirit and it was rewarding for them all to return home with medals.”
