Teen 'trafficked and sold for sex'
A TEENAGE girl was trafficked into the UK and forced to work as a prostitute in Sheffield, a court heard.
The girl, who cannot be named, ended up in the city after running away from a care home in her native Slovakia where she lived after her mum died, Sheffield Crown Court was told.
She was befriended by a man who raped her and forced her to work as a prostitute before arrangements were made for her to be moved to Sheffield, the court was told.
One of the man's relatives - Roman Dunka, aged 34, who also lived in Slovakia - contacted his sister in Sheffield - Abzeta Dunkova, 26, of Page Hall Road, Grimesthorpe, who travelled to the Eastern European country to bring the teenager to South Yorkshire on the pretence that she would have "a better life".
Prosecutors claim once in Sheffield the teenager was forced to work as a prostitute and was left in fear for her life.
She was making up to 300 a night and was forced to hand over her takings to her captors, it is alleged.
Roman Dunka, Abzeta Dunkova and her husband, Marcel Dunka, 27, are charged with two counts of trafficking into the UK for sexual exploitation - by arranging transport from Slovakia and getting the girl to Sheffield once in the UK.
They are also charged with false imprisonment.
The trio, along with a fourth defendant Zaneta Hovathova, 21, are also charged with causing child prostitution and controlling a child prostitute.
Hovathova's husband Simon Kandrac, 19, is facing two counts of rape and Marcel Dunka is accused of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
The defendants deny all the charges against them.
