DONCASTER health workers are celebrating becoming the first in Doncaster to be officially declared ‘youth friendly’.

Four primary health services supporting young people, The 8am to 8pm Health Centre, Contraception and Sexual Health service, Jigsaw and British Pregnancy Advisory Service are the first in Doncaster to be officially recognised for making their services young people friendly.

NHS Doncaster has been working with the local health services, who treat and advise people aged between 11 to 19, to make sure their service environment, staff and information materials are young people friendly.

They have now been approved under a scheme called Your Welcome, a Department of Health initiative, which sets out principles that take into account the needs of young people and help them to get the best of health services.

To achieve the status services receive mystery visits from youngsters to grade the service.
