SHEFFIELD youngster Callum Simister is crossing the Pennines to take up an apprenticeship at an international civil engineering firm.

The 18-year-old, from Millhouses, is one of three trainees who have been taken on by BDP’s building services team, based in Manchester.

It is the first time BDP’s Manchester Studio has taken on apprentices, who each underwent a rigorous application, testing and interview process to be selected.

Callum and his two colleagues will be attending Liverpool Community College on a day release while they are working towards a professional qualification with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and Institution of Civil Engineers.

Callum said: “Since starting at BDP, the support I have received, even so soon in the programme, has been great.”
