A number of South Yorkshire organisations are preparing to take to the saddle for a fundraising mission.

Five teams will be battling it out next month for the Alhambra Shopping Centre’s One Great Day event in a bid to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and local charity Tiny Hearts Foundation, which is part of the Barnsley Hospital Charity.

The teams will each cycle the distance between the retail outlet and Great Ormond Street Hospital and back again on Saturday 7th June, totalling 348 miles.

Competitors are from the Alhambra management team, marketing agency Talk to Media, BPL, Alhambra retailers and Barnsley Hospital.

Steph Higham, Alhambra Shopping Centre marketing manager said: “We are all looking forward to the One Great Day event and raising lots of money and awareness of two fantastic charities.

“The teams are already in the spirit of the event and getting rather competitive! It will be a great event and we hope lots of the local community come down and support us.”

Face painting, stands, balloons, bucket collectors and a Keith Lemon lookalike will all feature.

Budding golfers are also needed to sign up for The Alhambra’s One Great Golf Day on June 11, at Sandhill Golf Course.
