AN UNBEATEN college football team has been recognised for its form by staff from Sheffield United.

Westfield Sports College’s Year 10 squad was presented with the Sports Team of the Year award after going an entire season undefeated.

The award was presented by Mark Todd, community development manager at the Blades’ community programme the United Initiative, during an awards evening at the college.

Mark said: “It was a pleasure to give out this award, especially as it was won by a football team. Any winning side needs commitment, hard work and a good team spirit and the lads certainly have shown that.”

Westfield headteacher Sue Simmons said: “It is great to highlight pupils’ achievements like this.

“We encourage all the pupils to take part in sport and we are so proud to join the community programme at Sheffield United.

“I would like to say well done to the lads for winning this great award.”
