A HIT-and-run taxi driver who landed a pedestrian in hospital during a Bank Holiday night out is being hunted by police.
The young man was knocked down while trying to hail a cab in the early hours of last Saturday.
Police are appealing for information and any witnesses to the collision, which left the 24-year-old man needing hospital treatment.
The incident happened at around 12.30am on Saturday outside the Jobcentre Plus premises on Wood Street, Doncaster. It is thought the man was standing partly in the road trying to hail a taxi when a silver estate car with private hire plates allegedly struck him, causing arm and leg injuries.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, continuing away from the town centre towards Waterdale.
The man was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but was later discharged.
It is believed that two men stopped to assist him but left the scene before police arrived.
Police are appealing for them to come forward as well as anybody else who may have witnessed the incident.
