A taxi crashed through the doors of Sheffield’s National Emergency Services Museum after a collision on a city centre roundabout.

The Vauxhall Vectra ended up embedded in the double wooden doors to the museum, off the West Bar roundabout, following a crash at around 3pm on Wednesday.

A hand pump parked behind the doors was damaged and two trailer pumps and an American fire engine were all dented.

Museum director Matthew Wakefield said: “This is the fourth time in 30 years this has happened.

“We will once again be asking the council to put some bollards up to protect our building.”
