Tango actor turns from pop to pints

HE’s come a long way from promoting fizzy pop...

Former actor Peter Geeves – best known for playing the orange man in a controversial commercial for Tango – is making a go of a very different drinks-related venture with his own Barnsley micro-brewery.

Twenty years after starring in the ad which spawned the catchphrase ‘You’ve been Tango’d’ he is aiming to be a success in a different way.

Geeves Brewery, at Stairfoot, has already produced an award-winning ale and is on line to expand this year.

Peter, who launched the brewery with son Harry after experimenting on his narrowboat home, said: “Starting the brewery is a big departure in one sense, but I do feel there are similarities in any creative process.”
