MP Caroline Flint has held talks with the new bosses at the Earth Centre.
Ms Flint, whose constituency includes the failed Millennium project, near Conisbrough, says she is pleased with progress towards re-opening the site as an activity centre for educational groups.
Doncaster Council announced last week that it was selling the site to private firm Kingswood.
Ms Flint said: “I am delighted that new owners Kingswood are hoping to establish 200 jobs on the site.
“I have already spoken with John Bentley, Kingswood’s business development manager.
“They are really committed to investing in the site to provide first-rate out-of-class activities for children and young people using the environmental backdrop of the Earth Centre site as a springboard for children’s learning and enjoyment.
“The investment in new accommodation is to be welcomed but I am particularly pleased that the existing buildings are to be retained.”
Conisbrough’s three ward councillors have also voiced their approval for the sale.
Couns Craig Sahman, Chris Mills and Sandra Holland issued a joint statement welcoming the creation of local jobs.
They said: “We are delighted with this bid and look forward to working with them to the benefit of the local community and Doncaster.”
