FOOTBALL derbies are all about the team which goes on to display the most heart and soul.
But this display was more about haddock and sole.
The display, which celebrated the Steel City Derby, was created at the fish counter at Waitrose in Ecclesall Road by John Barker.
The talented fishmonger-cum-artist recreated both the Wednesday Owl and the Blades crossed swords – using only pieces of fish.
Of course we all know that Wednesday were the team that went on to tip the scales.
That was thanks to centre forward Chris O’Grady who lept like a salmon to head home a Lewis Buxton cross following wave upon wave of Wednesday pressure.
One thing is for sure – not one of the fishy fellows John used was happy when they themselves hit the back of the net. But they did make a lovely fish supper.
