THE owner of a falafel takeaway is bidding for a licence to open until 4am every night – but the plans have sparked concerns about potential noise affecting neighbours.
Falafel King, in Glossop Road, opposite The West End pub, has permission to trade until 11pm, but wants to operate 8am to 4am daily.
Its late night refreshment application is to be debated by Sheffield Council’s licensing board on Thursday.
An objection has been made by a member of the public on the grounds of noise, and council environmental health officers said they wantthe premises to close no later than 3am, in line with other hot food takeaways in the area.
But Sheffield Council’s planning department said the premises only has permission to open until 11pm and would need to apply for new planning permission to open any later – without which a licence would not be valid.
