Travelling by bus instead of car could save drivers in South Yorkshire more than £700 a year, according to bus operator Stagecoach.
The company claims that by purchasing its weekly unlimited travel tickets, people can save on the cost of petrol - with taking the 87 bus from Chapeltown to Sheffield each day for work costing 59 per cent less than driving.
Bus users travelling between Mexborough and Doncaster could also be hundreds of pounds better off than if they travel by car, the company says.
Paul Lynch, Stagecoach Yorkshire managing director, said: “Rocketing motoring costs and household bills are squeezing living standards. People can save money by switching to the bus.”
