COUNCIL chiefs say they are ‘working with community leaders’ on a plan to cut the tide of litter blighting a Sheffield neighbourhood – as well as providing more bins.
Paul Downend, of Page Hall, has complained repeatedly to Sheffield Council about the problem – supported by Coun Ibrar Hussain.
Coun Hussain, whose Burngreave ward includes the area, has called for residents and businesses in Page Hall to ‘take more pride in the area’.
Now, Coun Jack Scott, council cabinet member for environment, recycling and streetscene, has become involved.
He said: “We are working closely with local community leaders and many partner organisations to develop a long -term approach and prevention measures.
“We are keen to encourage local residents to take ownership of their streets and become environmental champions for this area.”
