A playful dog recovering from an unsettled past is looking for a forever home.

Two-year-old Sylvester is currently being cared for at RSPCA Sheffield’s Animal Centre at Attercliffe, with staff and volunteers impressed at how he has adapted to training to get him ready for adoption.

The terrier-cross arrived at the centre with a lack of basic training but staff say they are ‘amazed at how clever he is’ and say they have been ‘overwhelmed with his progress’.

Animal care assistant Vykki Whelan said: “He’s great fun and very smart. He loves to play and we hope to find him a patient and caring owner very soon.”

It is thought that Sylvester would be most suited to experienced dog owners and ideally homes without any other pets.

Vykki added: “Sylvester’s progress has been fantastic but staff hope to find him a home with experienced dog owners with a ‘hands off’ approach.

“He would prefer to be an only pet, however, with a little patience he could easily adapt to life with a very tolerant and placid dog.

“Could you give Sylvester the love and support he needs?”

The Star’s Give A Dog A Home campaign is aimed at finding homes for unloved and unwanted dogs abandoned across the city or taken into care.
