Sweet success for school in charity fund-raiser
CRUMBS! These cakes look delicious!
Young pupils baked and iced buns, and older students painted henna tattoos, as part of a day of fund-raising at Sheffield High School in Broomhill.
Over 1,500 was raised for Children In Need at a craft fair organised by parents' association The Friends of Sheffield High.
Pupils also raffled off cuddly Pudsey Bears and tickets for the X Factor live tour, and held a non-uniform day costing 1 for each senior student.
Year 11 student Jessica Brailey, aged 15, created a set of coloured bands reading 'I'm With Pudsey' which she had made in the USA, and manned a stall for two weeks with the help of her friends, raising over 800.
Primary school kids in years four, five and six raised 160 with their lunchtime sales of buns and biscuits .
The children will buy a Unicef 'School In A Box' which will be sent to a third world country, containing supplies and materials for a teacher and 40 students.
In addition to basic school supplies, such as exercise books, pencils, erasers and scissors, the kit includes a wooden teaching clock, wooden cubes for counting, a radio and a set of classroom posters.
