Swallownest United Churches Choir is holding its Golden anniversary concert this Friday.
The choir, which formed in the region 50 years ago, brought together singers from local churches of different denominations. Over the years the choir has been invited to sing at many different venues across the region, as well as in Beamish, Penzance and Jersey.
The choir’s original musical director was Harry Barker, a member of the Salvation Army. Roger Dunwell took over when Harry retired in 1972 and continues to lead the choir today.
The anniversary concert will be held at Central Methodist Church, Lodge Lane, Swallownest at 7.30pm this Friday.
