A report of a suspect package led to a road closure in Sheffield this morning.
Attercliffe Road was blocked in both directions earlier when a member of the public reported a suspect package.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said it turned out to be a sandbag.
It is understood that a police car crashed close to where the package was spotted.
Some buses were diverted along Woodburn Road, Cricket Inn Road and Broad Street.
Bus company Stagecoach Yorkshire withdrew its 52 service buses from Attercliffe Road, Saville Street and The Wicker because of the road closure.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "A member of the public reported a possible suspicious package.
"This turned out to be a sandbag and all the roads have now reopened."
