MORALE is low and staff are worried about standards of care slipping at Rotherham Hospital, according to a new survey.
The poll was carried out by John Healey, MP for Wentworth & Dearne, who revealed the results after a meeting with workers and union stewards.
The hospital has recently been hit with financial problems, as well as changes in leadership.
Three-quarters of the 50 people surveyed said morale was ‘very low’, while nearly half were concerned about losing services and redundancies.
A fifth said standards of care were slipping because of staff shortages, and one in five wanted to kept better informed by management.
The Labour MP said: “The survey replies reflect the fears and frustrations of staff who are so committed to the hospital service they provide and to helping patients.
“They have been through so much and everything is still up in the air.
“Those in charge have to do more to give staff up-to-date information about what’s going on, the problems the hospital is facing and the plans for the future.”
