SMOKERS in Rotherham are being urged to use the new year to kick the habit once and for all.

Health workers are offering extra support to anyone who vows to quit as a resolution.

Rotherham NHS Stop Smoking Service is reminding smokers help is at hand and offers free, confidential support and advice, free nicotine patches, a telephone service and one-to-one sessions.

Special events will be held in the Dalton branch of Asda from 9.30am until 3.30pm this month where smokers can sign up to the service.

Simon Lister, manager of the service, said: “Stopping smoking is the single greatest influence you can have on your health.”
