DON Valley Railway’s plan to restore train services from Sheffield to Stocksbridge has had a big thumbs up from residents and commuters.
More than 200 people have signed the organisation’s internet petition calling for the line to be reopened.
A spokesman said: “This support will send a strong message to businesses, councillors and transport planners of the importance of a rail link giving an 11-minute journey time between Stocksbridge and the Wicker area of Sheffield city centre. DVR has been seeking ideas for ways to develop a business plan by holding talks with management accountants.”
Anyone wanting to get involved should attend DVR’s annual meeting at Stocksbridge Rugby Union Club on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
