Sainsbury’s is gearing up to open its new supermarket in Sheffield later this month.

The firm has built a new store on the former Wadsley Bridge site of Fletcher’s Bakery, which burned to the ground in 2006.

Some 350 new jobs have been created in the store, with the majority of employees coming from north Sheffield.

Store Manager Chris Addleton said: “With only two weeks to go the team is working round the clock to make sure everything is ready for the opening. I am looking forward to welcoming everyone to the store and helping deliver the best in-store experience we can.

“As part of being good members of the community we have started working with a number of groups in the area and we’re looking forward to building on these relationships. The store will soon be choosing its ‘Charity of the Year’ that will be the focus of the team’s efforts.”

The store has a clothing range, in-house bakery and restaurant.

There is parking for 450 vehicles.

An information day is to be held at Hillsborough Arena on Saturday, November 15 between 10am and 4pm.
