It’s time to show off your fundraising super powers as The Star and Hallam FM Cash for Kids launch this year’s Superhero Day.
Families, schools and businesses across South Yorkshire will host their own superhero-themed fundraising activities as we try to raise more than £20,000 to support local sick and disadvantaged children.
All the cash donated at fundraising events – including bake sales, raffles, bucket collecting, film nights, sky diving and of course dressing up as your favourite superheroes – will support Cash for Kids, which is a grant giving charity. Last year Cash for Kids supported more than 40 different causes, helping over 91,000 children.
The charity supports families, community groups, food banks, health and social workers, organisations and even local charities.
Allan Ogle, charity manager, said: “We’re incredibly excited ahead of Superhero Day this year. It’s such a fantastic campaign where we see just as many adults dressed up as kids raising money to help disadvantaged children where we live. It’s so easy to get involved, even if you can’t dress up you can still support the campaign by sending a text message or making an online donation or bidding on an auction prize.”
Last year the campaign raised £20,070.22 and to help topple that this year, Hallam FM will be hosting its own online auction which will be online soon with bidding starting on Monday, May 9. The high interest prizes, including a trip to the 2017 Masters, meet and greet with Lionel Richie and various film and sporting memorabilia, will feature on-air on Friday, May 13.
n Get involved at www.hallamfm.co.uk/superheroday or text HALLAM to 70808, which will send £5 to the campaign.
