More super-fast mobile services are to come to Sheffield by the end of the year.
Mobile networks O2 and Vodafone celebrated the start of their 4G data services by switching them on in London, Leeds and Bradford.
The service can provide smartphone users with data on average six times faster than 3G connections.
Both networks plan to have coverage in 13 cities – including Sheffield – by the end of the year and both plan eventually to provide 4G coverage to 98 per cent of the population.
The launches follow on the heels of EE, which has offered super-fast 4G mobile data in Sheffield since October.
Vodafone said 4G – fourth generation networks – can provide data to smartphone users on average six times faster than 3G connections.
