Sugababes at BBC 1Xtra Live in Sheffield - Trevor Nelson AUDIO

THE Sugababes will perform at a star-studded pop party at Sheffield Arena tomorrow night, Saturday, November 28, 2009.

The trio, whose Christmas single is rumoured to be a cover of Santa Baby, were announced today as a last minute addition to the line-up at BBC 1Xtra Live 2009.

Also on the otherwise all-male bill are JLS, Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, Chase & Status, Taio Cruz, Kano, Jay Sean and Donaeo.

The show will be co-hosted by Radio 1 stars Trevor Nelson and Mistajam - with DJ Tim Westwood.

The free tickets for the 11,000-strong event were snapped up weeks ago.

It will be broadcast live though as a Radio 1 and 1Xtra simulcast event, from 7pm to 11pm.

Highlights will be in a special 30-minute programme on BBC Three, presented by Radio 1's Reggie Yates.

It is the Sugababes' biggest crowd since the departure of final original member, Keisha Buchanan.

Some critics suggested that was the end of the road for the band, which now features Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and new girl – former Eurovision entrant, Jade Ewen.

Trevor Nelson, in an exclusive chat with The Star, said: "They've had a torrid time of it recently. A lot of headlines - all for the wrong reasons. It will be very interesting to see how they cope with it and how they go down. I think they will get a great welcome on the stage."

Of the show itself he added: "A lot has happened in the last few years – with the urban music scene. It's culminated in this event. There's five or six acts who have all had number one records. It's the biggest line up of home grown artistes for this type of music we've ever had and 1Xtra's biggest gig to date."
