ORGANISERS of the first ever Greenhill Christmas Market have hailed the event a success.
The market was organised by the Greenhill and Bradway TARA and took place at the meeting hall on Gresley Road, Lowedges.
Around 1,000 people attended the event, which raised around £200.
Visitors browsed 50 stalls - several of which sold out - offering gifts and treats including homemade cakes.
Entertainment was also provided by the Dronfield Brass Band, local church choirs and the BeVox vocal group.
The market was opened by Sheffield’s Lord Mayor, Coun Sylvia Dunkley.
Stephen Rich, secretary of the TARA, said the event was a ‘tremendous success’ and the next market will take place in May.
“We’re trying to arrange three or four a year,” he said.
Proceeds will pay for a full year’s insurance for a new inflatable football pitch, slide and bouncy castle, Mr Rich added.
