PLANS to cut funding for an outdoor education centre in Sheffield are to be debated by councillors.
Opposition members of Sheffield Council have put forward a motion for debate at Wednesday’s full meeting of the authority, which calls for a rethink on the proposal to cut £8,000.
The money is set to be axed from the budget for Mayfield Environmental Education Centre, Fulwood.
Coun Andrew Sangar, Liberal Democrat member for Fulwood, said: “The Mayfield Centre provides a service allowing children from across Sheffield to experience the value of our environment and the great outdoors.
“It’s absurd for Labour to claim they’ve been forced to cut this service, when they’re making improvements to the Town Hall.”
