SHEFFIELD students raised almost £4,000 for St Luke’s Hospice with the city’s first varsity 10k run.

The event, at Don Valley Stadium in March, attracted more than 450 students from both city universities.

Now all the sponsorship money has been collected, the runners have raised £3,960 for Sheffield’s only hospice.

“St Luke’s is a fantastic charity that supports so many local people,” said race director Alison Gardner.

“We are now planning the Sheffield Varsity 10k 2013 for March 10.”
