A UNIVERSITY student is running the Sheffield Half Marathon to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of her grandmother.
Sophie McGowan, a student at the University of Sheffield, is running in memory of her grandma Gertie Hill, a former mayoress of Dewsbury who spent 50 years fundraising for the cancer charity.
She died from stomach cancer last summer.
Sophie, 19, said: “I feel having lost such a wonderful lady that it is my time to give something back. Macmillan was a charity very close to her heart, and now to mine.”
