Plans to build flats that will house more than 600 students near Sheffield United’s ground are set to get the green light next week.
The proposal is to create one block for 535 student bed spaces in ‘pod units’ and a separate building with 73 private apartments on two pieces of land that straddle Unstone Street and used to be a nursery or a car sales plot.
It would also include space for offices.
There have been no objections to the plans and they are recommended for approval subject to conditions.
Reports to next Tuesday’s Sheffield Council planning meeting say there will be just four car parking spaces, although there will be 102 bike parking spots, and residents will be encouraged to walk or use public transport.
It adds: “The development will result in a significant improvement in the appearance of this site, and enhance the locality.”
