A student’s night out with friends turned into a halloween horror after he was left with a fractured jaw following a random street attack.

Braden Bennett, aged 21, from Bolsover, was dressed up as a skeleton when he was set upon by a man in an orange jumpsuit during a night out with friends in Sheffield city centre.

The Sheffield Hallam University student was left needing surgery and metal plates and screws inserted in his jaw to keep it in place after it was fractured in two places.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Officers investigating an assault in Sheffield city centre, which left a man with a broken jaw, are appealing for witnesses.

“At around 11pm on Friday, October 31, a 21-year-old man was assaulted on Matilda Street while on a night out with friends.

“The attack appears to have been unprovoked.

“The victim suffered facial injuries and needed surgery on a broken jaw.

“The offender is described as white, in his early 20s around 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with short sandy coloured hair and wearing an orange boiler suit.”

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 1508 of October 31.
