SHEFFIELD Council has approved plans to convert one of the city centre’s historic buildings into student accommodation.
The former Edwardian cabinet factory, warehouse and furniture depository at Walsh Court, off Trippet Lane, once formed part of the business of celebrated city entrepreneur John Walsh, the founder of Walsh’s department store in High Street.
Most recently the building has been used as office space but now Sheffield architectural design company Coda Studios, working with a private developer, has created a successful plan for student accommodation in the building.
“The designs we came up with retained all the original character,” said Coda associate director Peter Noble.
