A university student was left with a broken jaw and lost several teeth when his wallet was stolen in a violent robbery in Sheffield.

The 18-year-old first-year psychology student was attacked by a gang of up to five men close to the Hunters Bar roundabout.

The teenager had just been dropped off at the scene by a black cab, which he caught from Carver Street in the city centre, near the Walkabout pub, between 12.30am and 1.30am.

He was set upon by the group of four or five men, described as being Asian and Afro-Caribbean.

South Yorkshire Police is appealing for the taxi driver to come forward, as well as other witnesses who saw the robbery on October 7. Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
