Storm ‘should miss South Yorkshire’ say forecasters

South Yorkshire was expected to escape the worst of a severe storm set to hit the UK during this morning.

Hurricane-force winds were expected in the south of the country along with driving rain.

Gemma Plumb of Meteogroup said: “It shouldn’t affect South Yorkshire.

“It will be strongest in the south.”

The weather in Sheffield today was expected to be sunny and breezy with odd showers which will continue into Tuesday.

This afternoon there will be high winds and showers while Tuesday will remain breezy, with sunshine and showers expected.
