STORM DORIS: EIGHT HOURS OF GALES - hour by hour wind speed forecast for Sheffield

Storm Doris if currently barreling towards the UK with damaging winds expected across northern and central parts of England.

Strong winds are set to batter the region today

The Met Office has issued an Amber Warning for the region with ferocious gusts of up to 80mph in places. These winds are likely to cause widespread travel disruption as well as some structural damage.

Winds are expected to pick up speed across Sheffield around the morning rush hour and these gales will last well into the afternoon.

As well as the strong winds there will also be long periods of heavy rain.

Here are the latest forecasted wind speed and rain forecasts for Sheffield for today (there could be some even stronger gusts in more exposed parts of the city).

8am: 41 mph - Heavy rain

9am: 46 mph - Heavy rain

10am: 47 mph - Heavy rain

11am: 47 mph - Heavy rain

12pm: 43 mph - Sunshine and showers

1pm: 45 mph - Sunshine and showers

2pm: 47 mph - Heavy rain

3pm: 50 mph - Heavy rain

4pm: 45 mph - Light rain
