THREE shops in the Walkley area of Sheffield were caught selling alcohol to children by police.
A spot check by officers revealed the problem.
Police sent youngsters into a number of shops in Walkley to ask for alcohol to check that traders were not breaking the law.
The operation caught three stores in the act, selling to the underage customers.
The owners of the three stores which failed the spot checks have agreed to attend a course covering issues including licensing laws, how to prevent under-age sales and the effects of alcohol.
