Stop stoning, say students

Have your say

SHEFFIELD University’s Amnesty Group is holding an event tomorrow in protest against Iran’s use of stoning as a method of capital punishment for adultery.

Members of the group will perform a ‘mass freeze frame’ on the union concourse depicting a stoning trial to raise awareness of the issue.

The law is currently under review in Iran and Amnesty is campaigning internationally on the issue to put pressure on the ruling Ayatollah.

Students will also be collecting a petition protesting about the practice.
