DOOKIE the dog – who was stolen from Orchard Square while his owners were shopping – has been reunited with his owner after an anonymous tip-off by a reader of The Star.
Dookie’s owner Joanne Bannister was distraught after Dookie went missing from his tether outside Waterstones bookshop while her mum popped inside to buy a book.
Joanne said her much-loved pet had then been seen in the Peace Gardens, being led by a young man and woman.
But, a few days after The Star printed the family’s appeal, Joanne received a call.
Joanne, from Wakefield, said: “One of my friends who lives in Sheffield went to pick him up and now he is back with us. It’s the best Christmas present we could have hoped for.”
