The new series of Doncaster filmed sitcom Still Open All Hours is set to kick-off on Boxing Day.

The remake of the classic corner shop comedy has been pencilled in as part of the BBC1 line-up for December 26 and is set to be screened at 7.30pm.

Last year’s revival of the show proved to the biggest hit of the Christmas schedules, drawing in more than ten million viewers which saw producers commission a full series.

Stars including Sir David Jason, Lynda Baron, Johnny Vegas and Tim Healy all took part in filming outdoor sequences in Balby in September.

The Beautique hair salon on the corner of Scarth Avenue and Lister Avenue was transformed into Arkwright’s cluttered cornershop emporium once more for two weeks of shooting.

The original series, starring comedy legend Ronnie Barker, ran over four series between 1973 and 1985.

Studio sequences have just completed filming at Teddington Studios in Middlesex and the remainder of the six part series is set to be shown throughout January.

It is believed that if the remake series proves to be a big hit with viewers, a second series could be commissioned.
