Sheffield people are being advised how to ‘Stay Well This Winter’ - as the national campaign kicks off in the city this week.
Billboards, radio adverts and public events are being used to remind the public of the importance of getting their flu jab if they are eligible, keeping homes heated to at least 18 degrees and visiting the pharmacy for health advice around common winter illnesses.
The roadshow will be visiting Hillsborough Shopping Centre this weekend - offering advice to local residents - as part of the national campaign to make those at risk of preventable winter admission aware of, and motivated to take, those actions that could prevent that admission. If successful, the campaign will reduce pressures on NHS services, particularly urgent and emergency care, in the winter months.
The national flu vaccination programme for children is a large part of this year’s campaign, and aims to help three million children between the ages of two and six, with the largest school-based vaccination programme ever in England.
