BOXING stars are today heading to an open day at a Sheffield gym which is helping to steer troubled youngsters away from a life of crime.
The event takes place from 2pm this afternoon at Unity Gym, Eldon Street, in Sheffield city centre.
Among guests set to attend are former world boxing champion Jonny Nelson, Pat Warner and Paul Silky Jones.
The gym is among projects receiving a share of £680,000 of Home Office funding for work with young people to help reduce the risk of them getting involved with gangs, guns and knife crime.
Some of those training at Unity Gym are former offenders, some of whom have served prison sentences, but who now give up their spare time talking to other youngster about mistakes from their pasts.
