DOZENS of youngsters put on their shooting boots for some free football coaching sessions held on a Sheffield housing estate.
The sessions in Greenhill Park were organised by Sheffield Wednesday and funded by a £12,000 grant from Sheffield Homes after approval by members of the community.
Matt Bray, social inclusion manager for Sheffield Wednesday’s Community Programme, said: “The week-long footie coaching sessions held at Greenhill Park went really well.
“Over 30 young people attended each day to learn skills in shooting, attacking and defending and I was really impressed by the enthusiasm and dedication shown.”
Four teams from Lowedges and Gleadless Valley attended SWFC’s end of summer football tournament.
And one of the teams from Gleadless Valley got all the way to final in the under 14s category.”
Manager Scott Billington, aged 16, said: “I was really proud we got to the final with a young team.”
