Stars line up for charity cricket match
CORONATION Street and Emmerdale stars will take on a team of celebrities in a charity cricket match in Barnsley.
Celebrities already lined up to play in the All Stars team are Billy Pearce, Syd Little, The Grumbleweeds, Paul Shane, The Bachelors, Duncan Norvelle, Vince Eager and Mick Miller.
The match, in aid of kidney patients and kidney research, will be held on Sunday May 24 from midday at Shaw Lane Cricket Ground, Barnsley.
The event is the brainchild of Rotherham businessman Neil Crossland and musical director Mike Ryal, from Barnsley, who spent 14 years on dialysis until he underwent a successful kidney transplant at the Sheffield Kidney Institute in August last year.
Mike, who has worked as musical director to stars including Tony Christie and Jane MacDonald, has teamed up with Neil to form Showbizcharity.com and organise the cricket match to help other patients on dialysis awaiting a kidney transplant.
Tickets are 5 for adults and 2.50 for children aged 12 and under. Proceeds will be shared between the Barnsley Dialysis Unit, the Sheffield Area Kidney Association and the Sheffield Kidney Research Foundation.
For tickets call 01226 203509 or 0114 2572055 or visit www.showbizcharity.com
