SHOWBIZ stars are putting the spotlight on inspirational Sheffield children, young people and those who work with them – with a final call for nominations for this year’s Celebration of Success Awards.
Mama Do pop star Pixie Lott, X Factor chart-topper Olly Murs, stand-up comedian Omid Djalili and even the Red Arrows are all involved.
They are backing calls for entries and have recorded messages for the ceremony.
The search is on for the city’s top young volunteer, carer, entrepreneur, performer, artist, musician, student, sports star, mentor and young people’s of the year.
Adult awards will honour the best teacher, outstanding governor, social worker, health visitor/schools nurse and foster carer – with a special recognition award also up for grabs.
But hurry – the closing date for entries is tomorrow.
Nominations for the Sheffield City Council event, this year supported by media partners including The Star and Hallam FM, can be made quickly and easily online at the official website at www.celebrationofsuccess.net
There’s also full category details, information for anyone wanting to sponsor an award, or organisations, schools and clubs wanting the chance to perform at the event.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Sheffield City Hall on Thursday, July 7. Pixie Lott will reveal the name of one winner in a pre-recorded video.
She said today: “I’m thrilled to support this event. Children, young people and those who work with them deserve to be honoured and I’ve heard about some of the great things happening in Sheffield. They all deserve to win.”
Olly Murs, Omid Djalili and the Red Arrows have also all recorded special interactive messages for the night.
Other big names are planning to be there.
A spokeswoman said: “We want as many nominations as possible from the Sheffield area.
“If you know of someone who deserves to win an award then let us know.
“It could be a child who has faced huge challenges in their life, a young person who has helped others in their community, a teacher who makes life special, perhaps the next generation of Dragon’s Den entrepreneurs. There’s a category for everyone, so get nominating.”
