WEDDING bells are set to ring out for South Yorkshire biker James Toseland - after he proposed to his pop singer girlfriend Katie Melua.

James announced the couple’s marriage plans on his Facebook page, where he revealed he had been the one to pop the question.

The 31-year-old former World Superbike champion had been dating Katie since they met after her concert at Sheffield City Hall last April.

James - who has his own rock band called Crash - said he had some ‘happy news to share’ on the site.

“I asked Katie to marry me and she said yes,” he said.

“As you can imagine, I am a very happy man right now.”

Rumours spread the couple had got engaged when Katie, 27, was spotted wearing an engagement ring at Hamburg Airport last month.

Katie’s keyboard player Jim Watson introduced the pair after spotting James in the audience at the City Hall.
