Kind-hearted Star readers have helped pay for an operation for a poorly deaf dog.
Border terrier Maggie has been in the care of volunteers at Mill House Animal Sanctuary in Fulwood since she was found abandoned on the Snake Pass.
She was unable to be rehomed until she had an £2,000 emergency operation to remove a tumour on her face.
But following an appeal in The Star, the sanctuary was overwhelmed with donations totalling more than £2,600.
Sophie Caplan, of Crookes – who launched the appeal – said: “After the last article we received more than £750 worth of donations from people who read about it in The Star. Maggie is now fully recovered and the good news is that the tumour wasn’t cancerous.”
Image Sign Studio, of Attercliffe, also donated a new sign to the sanctuary after hearing of Maggie’ plight.
